Clinical Evaluation of Midecamycin in the Treatment of Respiratory Tract Infection

Abstract

|
|
Midecamycin, a new macrolide antibiotic, was given orally to 30 patients with respiratory infection, 15 patients with acute bronchitis, 15 patients with pneumonia with or with-out complicated disease. The result was excellent in 17 cases and fair in 9 out of 30, overall effective rate being 87.7%. No side effect were observed except in only one case who developed indigesion, but it was disappeared soon after discontinuing midecamycin.
